Seth’s frequently asked questions

I recently came across something that might work for you if you’re handling a project and you need to whittle down your ideas. These FAQ’s were the metrics that I and three other interns used when we had to pitch an idea to Seth Godin during our internship in New York. I remember that after three months of presenting, rewriting and then re-presenting our ideas to Seth we got smart. We all knew what was coming and so came up with these frequently asked questions that we were always bombarded with by Seth. Suffice to say it was worth it to be prepared with the answers. Your clients may ask them too.

  1. Present! (as in present the idea in 60 seconds or less).
  2. Where will the first ten lensmasters (or sales) come from?
  3. How will you add the next zero?
  4. What does one of the lenses (or products) look like?
  5. What are your deliverables?
  6. What are the metrics?
  7. Why would people want to do (or buy) this?
  8. Why Squidoo (or your favorite medium or channel)?
  9. What’s your first email going to look like?
  10. How will you keep them in the permission cycle?
  11. How will you keep score?
  12. What will the first two days after the launch look like? The first week? Month? Year?

Yes. We had our work cut out for us then. But I still use these questions to deliver great ideas to my clients. Hope they help.
